In the fall of 1998, John had written a song that was arranged in his head as a dark, synth heavy piece about the dangers of one pursuing that singlemost dangerous relationship, appropriately titled, "Dangerous." Two masked lovers, encounter each other at a masked ball and find themselves alone, wondering if they should go any further.
When Jere agreed that it was probably too dark to record as a Bidnessmen tune, John went home and wrote a prequel, in which the lyric takes place before the encounter in "Dangerous," when the protagonist has merely spied his target aross the room at the ball. Stripped of any musical resemblance with "Dangerous," it's just John and his piano, and Jere helping on backing vocals at the end.
Jere Ellis - backing vocal; John Nichols - piano, synth string quartet, lead and backing vocals
