After Jere saw a documentary about the recording and music scene in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, in the 1960's and '70's. It made him start imagining floating down the river on a boat with his guitars, and some friends, and picking up partiers along the way, just as a fun tribute to Rick Hall and all of the musicians who played with him and everyone else, down there. Just a fun party song; not to be tken seriously, at all.
So, not liking his voice on it, Jere got Billy Cole to do a guest lead vocal on it, and Billy, John and Emily Music made up the Barking Dog Gospel Quartet, and Jere's "fun little song" was just that ...
